Füssen and the castle area
For Neuschwanstein, take the train to Füssen and plan the bus to “Hohenschwangau Neuschwanstein Castles, Schwangau”, followed by the approach to the castle. The official visitor guide allows about 30–40 minutes uphill on foot from the ticket centre. Castle visits require a guided tour and a separate admission ticket. Leave a buffer before the booked tour and plan the return bus.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen and mountain plans
Use Garmisch-Partenkirchen as a rail destination when planning an Alpine day, then research the exact trailhead or mountain transport separately. Mountain railways, cable cars and visitor attractions can have their own fares and operating conditions. Check weather and the last return options; reaching the town by regional train does not mean every onward mountain journey is included.
Regensburg for a city day
For a day focused on an old town rather than a mountain connection, compare Munich–Regensburg departures and the walk from the arrival station to your first stop. Regional and long-distance options can have different ticket requirements. Build the return into the itinerary and check engineering-work notices instead of relying on a usual journey time from an older article.
Choose a regional ticket for the actual group
The ordinary Bayern-Ticket covers up to five named travellers, with up to three children aged 6–14 free in addition; younger children also travel free. On normal weekdays it starts at 09:00 and ends at 03:00 the next day. Weekends and specified holidays start at midnight. It covers participating regional and local services, not ordinary ICE or IC trains. Check current group fares and bus exclusions before buying.
